CRISTIANO RONALDO STARTS – MAN UNITED’S PROBABLE LINEUP VS REAL SOCIEDAD

After winning four games on the trot in the Premier League, Manchester United will kick start their Europa League campaign tonight against Real Sociedad. As far as the team news is concerned, Ten Hag could make a number of changes to the squad that started against Arsenal last weekend. The Dutch manager has confirmed that Ronaldo is an obvious option to start and therefore, we can expect the Portugal captain to feature as the lone center forward up front. Rashford could be rested vs the Txuri-Urdin.

In the attacking midfield, Fernandes and Antony may retain their positions, on the other hand, Elanga could return in place of Jadon Sancho to start on the left flank. As far as the central midfield is concerned, Brazil duo of Fred and summer signing, Casemiro, should replace the likes of Eriksen and McTominay. At the back, captain, Maguire, would probably return and partner Victor Lindelof in the central defense in front of David De Gea.            REPORT: ATLETICO MADRID REJECT CHANCE TO SIGN CRISTIANO RONALDO

A recent report from COPE has revealed that Jorge Mendes, the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, had held a meeting with Miguel Angel Gil Marin, the Atletico Madrid CEO, at the start of July. The Portuguese super-agent had offered Atleti the chance to sign the Manchester United attacker ahead of the new season. Mendes stressed that the attacker’s hefty wages should not be a problem as the player is willing to lower his demands. His main issue is from a sporting perspective and not from an economic perspective, as the Manchester United forward is keen on playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Ronaldo’s current club Manchester United have appeared as an undesirable option for the attacker after the club missed out on a top-four finish last season. It means the Red Devils are set to participate in the UEFA Europa League in the upcoming 2022/23 campaign, which has forced the attacker to consider an exit as soon as possible. REAL BETIS AND SEVILLA VYING FOR JUAN MATA SIGNATURE

La Liga sides Real Betis and Sevilla are reportedly in the race to sign Juan Mata on a free transfer from Manchester United. According to Mundo Deportivo, Juan Mata has multiple clubs lining up for his signature as his contract with Manchester United runs down later this month. La Liga giants Real Betis and Sevilla are said to be among clubs vying for Mata’s signature.

The Spaniard spent eight and a half years at Old Trafford after arriving in the 2014 January transfer window from Chelsea. Though Mata could not win the league title at Manchester United, he managed to add the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and another UEFA Europa League to his trophy cabinet. While Mata was one of the most important players at the club in his first few years, he slowly fell down the pecking order and was eventually deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United. The 34-year-old was given a one-year extension on his contract last year, but opportunities were hard to come by in the 2021/22 season.
