Liverpool Beats Man United to an Agreement with PSV for Cody Gakpo

 

Liverpool defeats Manchester United in the contest to sign winger Cody Gakpo after they agree to a deal with PSV, as announced by the Dutch side on Monday. According to the sources, the dealer fee is about £37 million, and the sides are at the brink of closing the deal of his arrival in the transfer window of January. PSV didn’t disclose the deal’s value but Marcel Brands- the general manager it is going to be a record transfer for the club.

According to the statement published by the Dutch club, Liverpool FC and PSV have reached an agreement on the transfer of Cody Gakpo. He is going to leave for England where he is going to be subjected to important formalities before the transfer completion. Gakpo emerged as a World Cup 2022 star by scoring 3 goals for the Netherlands before the quarterfinal elimination at the hands of Argentina, the eventual champions.

Luis Diaz, the Colombian international is facing an extended period on the sideline following a serious knee injury during the training break midseason in Dubai; Liverpool has sped up attempts for bolstering their forward line by making a move for Gakpo. He has been the top target for Southampton and Leeds during the summer and Manchester United Erik ten Hag convinced the Old Trafford club for considering a move for the player in the late summer window.

Manchester United has been eyeing a new move in January for Gakpo after the decision of the club to cancel the contract of Cristiano Ronaldo in November.
